Most people associate ultrasound with pregnancy, however ultrasound is used in musculoskeletal medicine to show us issues with soft tissues. Soft tissues include tendons, ligaments, muscles, and nerves. While MRIs and xrays are very valuable, both are done when the patient is completely still, while ultrasound can see tissues under movement. Sometimes ultrasound is able to pick up issues that were missed completely by other imaging.
It is also used at The Osteopathic Way to help guide the physicians to the exact right location for treatments. Often injections can be within millimeters of the precise location of soft tissue damage or inflammation, making the treatments infinitely more successful.

No, ultrasound is done right in our office by the physician. The people doing the ultrasounds are the ones who interpret it, which is different than going to get an MRI, which is done by a technician and later looked at by a doctor. This makes it very convenient and fast for our patients.
